Sound of Martin D-16GT Guitar

Pros of Martin D-16GT Acoustic Guitar

  • great tone, great action, and it doesn’t drain your wallet.;
  • plays a lot of styles of music, with a slide, fingerslide and flatpicking;
  • it’s not loaded with extras, but it’s loaded with quality sound;
  • the quality is very high, just what you would expect from Martin;
  • holds tune very well;
  • the neck is a good shape, and plays just about everything;
  • Micarta seems to be more resonant than ebony, has greater sustain, and is more durable;
  • excellent recording capabilities;
  • harmonics located over the 4th fret, the 3rd fret the second fret and the 1,8 sound; usually, you would need an electric guitar with a full overdrive to really hear these. ;
  • good durability.

Suggestions for this Martin Guitar

  • installing a bone saddle and nut, some consider it being necessary for better tone and sustain;
  • fishman pickup and lighter strings;
  • if the action is a little high, all you need is some sandpaper;
  • might want to consider the acous/elec with the Fishman Stereo Onboard blender as well.
