Pros of Martin D-16GT Acoustic Guitar
- great tone, great action, and it doesn’t drain your wallet.;
- plays a lot of styles of music, with a slide, fingerslide and flatpicking;
- it’s not loaded with extras, but it’s loaded with quality sound;
- the quality is very high, just what you would expect from Martin;
- holds tune very well;
- the neck is a good shape, and plays just about everything;
- Micarta seems to be more resonant than ebony, has greater sustain, and is more durable;
- excellent recording capabilities;
- harmonics located over the 4th fret, the 3rd fret the second fret and the 1,8 sound; usually, you would need an electric guitar with a full overdrive to really hear these. ;
- good durability.
Suggestions for this Martin Guitar
- installing a bone saddle and nut, some consider it being necessary for better tone and sustain;
- fishman pickup and lighter strings;
- if the action is a little high, all you need is some sandpaper;
- might want to consider the acous/elec with the Fishman Stereo Onboard blender as well.
