Gibson Les Paul Supreme Guitar Review :: Electric Guitars Reviews

chambered body takes a load off your shoulder and enhances resonance

The beautiful patterns of flame maple have distinguished the Les Paul Standard since the late 1950s, and the Gibson Les Paul Supreme takes it to the next level, with a carved, flame maple back as well as a flame top. Multiple binding and elaborate pearl inlays make this truly the Supreme creation in the Les Paul family. The distinctive look of these musical instruments is enhanced by custom binding all around; deluxe pearl-on-ebony fingerboard inlays; gold frets; and an abalone, pearl, and brass globe inlaid on the headstock. Chambered body takes a load off your shoulder and enhances resonance to aid the 490R and 498T alnico humbuckers in generating miles of smooth sustain. Includes hardshell case. Supreme tone, supreme touch, supreme luxury for true Gibson Les Paul Supreme fanatics.

Sound of Gibson Les Paul Supreme Electric Guitar

  • throaty deep tone that is great for blues;
  • the electronics have a warm,fat,chunky, clean sound and a smooth overdriven tone;
  • a pretty fat, thick tone with tons of sustain;
  • great sound, not as good as a regular Les Paul Standard;
  • it can’t do soft single coil sounds, this guitar is all about raw rock;
  • if you want a bright, thin and crispy sound that requires some amp Tweaking or a Coil-splitter;
  • the neck pickup gives an unbelieveable creamy smooth tone and the bridge pickup cuts through and rocks like any Les Paul with the flip of a switch;
  • the tone between pickups is sort of that Jimmy Page tone;
  • soulful and gutsy;
  • the sound is very similar to the ES series guitars with the same p/u configuration;
  • leads are sharp and sweet sounding, not too much tone when distorted.

Pros of Gibson Les Paul Supreme Electric Guitar

  • the electronics are high quality;
  • a fast, well playing, good guitar;
  • the neck is really fast;
  • the pickups have great dynamics with the pick attack;
  • fancy looks, Jumbo frets, gorgeous inlays, spectacular wood grain.

Cons of Gibson Les Paul Supreme Electric Guitar

  • it is heavy;
  • a little difficult to reach the 18-22 frets;
  • have been slightly hollowed out making them lighter but it also made the body structurally a lot weaker;
  • some complain about the binding and the fret ends, the strings slipping in between the fret and the binding.

Suggestions for this Gibson Guitar

  • consider a Les Paul Studio or Les Paul Standard as well;
  • if you want a bright, thin and crispy sound that requires some amp Tweaking or a Coil-splitter.
