Gibson ES-333 Guitar Reviews
an affordable, all-time classic
The Gibson ES-333 is a guitar that has stood the test of time as a classic musical instrument. With its slim taper neck, rosewood fingerboard, dot inlay, and specially wound Alnico magnet humbuckers, it offers a high-quality sound that guitarists have come to expect from a Gibson guitar. The ES-333 has a double-cutaway body with laminated top, back, and sides construction, similar to the ES-335, but with a solid maple center block. This gives it the performance of a solid body guitar, combined with the more traditional hollowbody styling.
The body of the ES-333 is made of plain laminated maple top, back, and rims, and measures 16.5″ (W) x 20″ (L) x 1.75″ (D). It has single-ply binding on the top and back and nickel hardware, including an ABR bridge, stopbar tailpiece, and black speed knobs.
The neck and headstock of the ES-333 feature a 1-piece mahogany neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, measuring 2.062″ in width at the 12th fret. The peghead pitch is 17°, and the thickness at the 1st fret is 0.800″ while the thickness at the 12th fret is 0.875″. The neck joint is located at the 19th fret and has pearloid dot inlays, single-ply binding, and a 1960 slim taper profile. The scale length is 24 3/4″, and the nut width is 1 11/16″, with green keys tuners.
The ES-333 has 490R & 498T Alnico magnet humbucking pickups, controlled by 2 volume, 2 tone, and a 3-way selector switch. It comes with Brite Wire .010-.046 strings, and is available in finishes of Trans Red (Faded Cherry), Natural, and Translucent Brown.
To sweeten the deal, the ES-333 also includes a waterproof canvas gigbag with a black velour interior and gold ‘Gibson’ logo silkscreen. Overall, the Gibson ES-333 offers a high-quality sound, with solid performance and classic style, all at an affordable price point.
